Working with Chef Beau is different than working with a doctor or a nutritionist. Many in the medical field still believe that the food we eat today is the same as it was 50 years ago when, in reality, it is NOTHING like the food from our past. Doctors are trained and in many cases compensated when they prescribe medications to treat symptoms instead of finding out the source of the problem.
We don’t give you a copy of the age-old food pyramid and tell you to eat better. Our approach focuses on how the food you are eating is likely related the physical, behavioral and emotional issues that you are experiencing. We work with you and your family to determine if the issues you experience are related to the food that you are eating. Through temporary elimination diets and food substitutions, we can tell if the foods you are eating is the cause.
What Does The Typical Food Coaching Process Look Like?
Our food coaching is 100% face-to face and in your home allowing for maximum convenience for you and your family and to see maximum results as quickly as possible.
During our initial time together, we invest in truly getting to know you, your family and your family history. We talk about what foods you and your family like to eat, how you shop and prepare food and what life changes you would like to see in your life. Perhaps it is less chronic pain or better moods. Maybe it is to reduce your dependency on medications that have been prescribed for you to alleviate symptoms of an underlying problem.
The entire food coaching session usually lasts between 3 and 5 hours in your home and usually follows the following schedule:
Kitchen Table Discussion
We gather the family around the kitchen table to talk about your family medical and genealogy history, current lifestyle, family schedule, food favorites and, of course, the real changes that you would like to see in your life that might be related to food.
We will take a peek into your refrigerator, cupboards and pantry to see the kind of foods you keep on hand. We’ll walk you though the most common ingredients found in foods known to cause negative symptoms and teach you the ingredients to avoid as well as the ingredients that you should look for when shopping.
Shopping Field Trip
Here is where we put what we’ve covered into practice. We actually go shopping together to help you navigate your favorite grocery store or perhaps take you to a new store. During our trip, we will help fill your shopping cart with foods that will begin the healing and we’ll avoid the foods that keep you feeling ill. We will also help with grocery budgeting to help fit buying the right food with your monthly grocery budget.
Before we leave, we will create a success plan so that you feel comfortable and confident with your new food purchases.
Our goal is to help you create new habits and to provide you with all the tools needed so you can shop, prepare and enjoy the foods that will be part of your recovery and your new life,
